Renée Kirby created her brand, Ark Swimwear ‘because simple done well is hard to find’. It’s no surprise that their luxe fabrics and designs have been worn by famous celebrities and models, such as Kim Kardashian and Natalie Roser. Each piece is designed with the simple goal of helping to accentuate the female form in a comfortable and practical way. Based in the stunning northern beaches of Sydney, they’ve managed to draw inspiration from their surroundings to ensure effortlessly gorgeous, timeless designs.

As an exclusively online retailer, Ark Swimwear enjoyed rapid growth without the typical hurdles of scaling a business. The issue wasn’t with keeping pace, but Renée kept one eye on the future of the business and the issues that can arise from not properly managing continued growth. Renée’s proactive approach led her to consider RFID technology not as a remedy for inefficiencies but as a strategic enhancement to Ark’s operations.
Renée explained that ‘Before I started Ark Swimwear I was a business analyst… As soon as we grew to a certain size, RFID made sense and we implemented it soon after’. Ark wasn’t experiencing any major issues with their processes, but Renée strongly believes that businesses don’t have to have big problems to fix to justify RFID. She further explained, ‘I knew about RFID from research I had done when I started the business. I talked to colleagues and acquaintances about local RFID companies and the name that kept coming up was Ramp’.

They were also extremely helpful in setting up the tagging at point of manufacture, which is a critical part of the overall RFID solution’.

As a seasonal business staff numbers can fluctuate, RFID gives Ark the confidence to bring on new team members without having to supervise them the whole time. “While still shipping with 100% accuracy to our customers.” Not only that by receiving up to 30K items previously took weeks to count and update the stocks to the website. This can now be completed in 1 – 2 days with Ramp’s integration with Inventory Planner. Stocktake of all 100K items in the warehouse can now be done in one day.
The features that Ramp have provided Ark Swimwear have negated the need for an expensive WMS system. Ramp have implemented tracked customer order pick/packing, inventory tracking, receiving against POs and inventory movement. Feeding automatically and immediately to Adobe Commerce for up-to-date data.
